Clariant is a focused and innovative specialty chemicals company based in Muttenz near Basel (Switzerland). The company employs a total of around 12,000 people in continuing operations and operates in three business areas: Care Chemicals, Catalysis and Natural Resources.

A major focus of production and research is in Germany. At 15 sites, the company manufactures a wide range of chemical specialties comprising several thousand individual products. They play a decisive role in both the production and manufacturing processes of customers or often add value to their end products.

In Gersthofen, Clariant employs around 300 people, producing mainly waxes and polymer additives that are found as active ingredients in products for almost all areas of daily life. Waxes are needed in applications such as plastics processing, care products, printing inks and coating systems. Polymer additives are used, among other things, as light stabilizers which slow down the aging process of plastics by increasing their UV resistance.
