Udo Bekker to be new Personnel Director and Labour Director at MVV Energie

Personnel Director at Vattenfall Europe AG to move from Berlin to Mannheim - Hans-Jürgen Farrenkopf set to retire at end of year after ten years on Executive Board at Mannheim energy company

Udo Bekker, Personnel Director at Vattenfall Europe AG, will join the Executive Board of the energy company MVV Energie AG as of 1.1.2013. This was announced by the Mannheim-based group on Thursday evening following a meeting of its Supervisory Board.

Bekker, a qualified lawyer born in 1959, has held key positions in the energy industry since 1991 and has been a member of the Executive Board of Vattenfall Europe AG since 2009. He held various roles at VEAG Vereinigte Energiewerke AG, one of Vattenfall's predecessor companies, from 1991 to 2002. From 2002, Bekker played a key role in building up Vattenfall Europe AG from its four predecessor companies. He is married and has one daughter.

"With Mr. Bekker, we have attracted a competent, experienced personality from within the energy industry to our company", stressed the Chairman of MVV Energie¿s Supervisory Board, Mannheim's Lord High Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz. "We have thus laid a key foundation for continuity in our personnel policy, as well as for our company¿s further robust development."

Udo Bekker will succeed Hans-Jürgen Farrenkopf, who is retiring at the end of the year after ten years as a member of the Executive Board and a total of 45 years at the company, many of which as a member of the company¿s Supervisory Board and as Group Works Council Chairman.
