Dr. Georg Müller to head MVV Energie for a further five years
The Supervisory Board of the Mannheim-based energy company MVV Energie has extended the appointment of company CEO, Dr. Georg Müller (50), for a further five years through to the end of 2018.
As communicated by the Supervisory Board Chairman, Mannheim¿s Lord High Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz, in Mannheim following a Supervisory Board meeting held in the run-up to today's Annual General Meeting, the resolution was adopted unanimously. According to Dr. Kurz, the Supervisory Board expressed "its absolute trust" in the work of the CEO, who has held his position since January 2009 and whose contract would have expired at the end of this year, and its confidence that Müller would "continue his successful strategy of profitable, sustainable growth".
The Supervisory Board Chairman stressed that Dr. Müller had deliberately chosen to accept management responsibility at a company that viewed its regional roots and stock market listing as a mandate for greater proximity to its people, for professional activity and for sustainable business success. As CEO, he had played a key role in ensuring that MVV Energie, one of Germany¿s leading independent energy suppliers, had continued to post stably high results in recent years in an increasingly tough market climate.
"With his profound understanding of the energy industry, entrepreneurial vision and strong management skills, Dr. Müller has pressed ahead in a targeted manner with strategically realigning our Group and thus created a basis for upholding MVV Energie's economic success story", added Dr. Kurz. Given the far-reaching transformation in the energy sector, the Supervisory Board¿s extension of Dr. Müller¿s appointment had also sent out an important signal of continuity to the company¿s employees, shareholders, customers and municipal partners.
Sales Director Matthias Brückmann, by contrast, would be leaving the company as of 15 March. The Oldenburg-based energy company EWE appointed him to their Management Board in mid-February already. There, he will be tackling new challenges from the summer onwards. On behalf of the Supervisory Board, Chairman Dr. Kurz expressed his regret at the departure of Brückmann, who had a long track record of successful activity at the MVV Energie Group.
